Gastro Health has appointed Eugenio (Gene) Hernandez, MD as its chief medical officer (CMO), who will oversee clinical operations across all markets, focusing on enhancing clinical quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
As CMO, Dr. Hernandez will work closely with the vice presidents of clinical affairs in each market and other physician leaders, providing leadership and support to ensure that clinical standards are consistently met and exceeded.

Dr. Hernandez has been in private practice in South Florida since 1998 and is a founding member of Gastro Health. Before this role, he was the senior vice president of clinical affairs for Florida and served on the Board of Directors. He also has experience in creating clinical services and surgical centers.
Gastro Health operates in seven states: Florida, Alabama, Washington, Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, and Massachusetts, with more than 350 physicians and 150 locations, including medical offices, infusion centers, imaging services, and a specialty pharmacy. Additionally, they run endoscopy centers in five states and also provide pathology and anesthesia services.
